Frequently Asked Questions

JobNet is a consolidated listing of the different positions advertised in Organizations that comprise the United Nations Common System. JobNet is an initiative of the Information Technology (IT) Unit in ICSC. The ICSC IT unit collaborated with different organizations to try and standardize the jobs publishing methods so we could consolidate all UN Common System jobs into a single repository.

JobNet has been in operation since March 2013. The ICSC-IT unit makes continuous efforts to maintain and monitor the site on regular basis.

How does JobNet work?
The IT unit created a software solution that gathers job data feeds (which can be HTML or XML-based) published on different organizationsal sites. After reading the information the software parses, validates and creates a dataset for the jobs. Various business rules are applied to standardize this dataset. (Standard date formatting, mapping various duty stations names and variations of job level). The IT team makes a continous effort to monitor and take corrective action on errors occuring due to changes in data feed urls and tags within the feeds.
The IT unit is in charge of the daily operation and maintenance of this site. You can send us your feedback using our Contact Us page.
Only job vacancies from organizations that belong to the United Nations Common System can be added to JobNet. HR or IT personnel of UN System organizations can contact us via our Contact Us page.

The system comprises the United Nations, its affiliated programmes, thirteen specialized agencies, and one organization with a special status under the ICSC statute. The World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (also known as the Bretton Woods institutions) are not part of the common system. View List of UN Common System Organizations.

No. ICSC only advertises the job information from different organizations and the application process is governed by each of them. So when you click on a link to view a job description you will be taken to a different web site, for which we have no control over it and you are bound to follow the application procedure pertainint to that organization.
We suggest you get in touch directly with the organization of your interest. They normally have a "Contact us" link or a feedback form.
No, you cannot send your resume/cover letter to ICSC using our feedback page. The main purpose of this link is to receive comments and suggestions about the use of this platform. We kindly ask you not to send any personal or professional information through it.
As we don't have control over other organization's web sites, we encourage you to contact them directly.
While there are countless organizations around the world, ICSC advertises available positions only from the UN Common System, which can be found at: http://jobs.unicsc.org/status.aspx
We publish the job deadline and not the the posting date. Since we depend on the information provided from other organizations regarding the jobs information, some of them do not publish the posting date, hence we are unable to publish it as part of the job advertisement.
All the organizations open and close job positions everyday. We simply reflect all that information.
ICSC is currently evaluating this possibility. Keep coming back to the site for more updates.
